[ ARCHIVED ] NPC Scheduler
Replacing our original NPC inbox, we are going to use an "appointment book" type set-up to help making NPC plotting and threading easier for everyone all around.
The following NPCs are available to be threaded with:
Rebbekah
Lindsy
Ledwika
Sergei
Feofan (Theasthai)
Sophia (Theasthai natively, though technically still in Verens)
Given the current low frequency of NPC threads, we are going to just keep all threads on this post! Be it network or log type, we can thread it out here unless requested otherwise.
So without further ado, fill out the following form. It's formatted in a "letter" type as that would be the only way characters can initially communicate and reach the NPCs.

[ KNOW WHAT, REBEKKAH? This is a humming call coming through, around lunch time, instead of the usual letter. Or hopefully around Rebekkah's lunchtime, if she even knows what those are in her busy life. Maybe he should've just gone for a letter as usual... but!!! ]
Rebekkah? It's Red! Uh, sorry if you were busy-- I wanted to arrange a time to meet you again! I've got some stuff to give you, and some big news! [ He can't help the sliver of excitement there, as much as he's pushing down on letting his emotions leak through. ] Do you have a time I can visit? A day?
[ ...if he sounds rushed, it's because he is rushing. ]
sssh
she may or may not ignore a lot of the office pings she gets]Hey, Red! I'm a little busy right now, but maybe later this afternoon? It sounds important so I don't think I could wait any longer to hear what you have this time!
no subject
Alright! Is [ insert time here ] okay? I'll bring everything over!

no subject
It's just him and a bag slung over his shoulder as usual, and a large envelope that looks bulky in its lower half, where something visually obvious not paper pokes against the walls. When Red sees Rebbekah, he beams a smile her way, jitters of nerves and anticipation both apparent on him. But he's keeping cool!! ]
Hey! Have you made any progress on your projects since I was last here?
[ It's a little nosy, but really, there's so much going on all the time in her lab that he wonders how much of really leaves the room. But then, that had been the case with Professor Oak, hadn't it? ]
no subject
When Red comes in, he will find there are charts and diagrams everywhere. Everywhere. Even plastered to the ceiling. On the tables there are a variety of crystals, many of them fragments a but few wholly completed ones. And finally, taped to the wall is the diagram that Red had given to her from the mines, several post-it notes, pins, and even string drawn out to other sheets of paper pinned to the wall attached to it.
She's furiously writing something on one of many chalk boards when she notices.]
Oh, Red! Hi! You will not believe how much I've learned from what you brought me last time! I feel like I'm on the brink of figuring out something groundbreaking regarding ol' Chrissie! Oh it's so exciting!!
no subject
What else is there to think or feel than that? Other than a stunned feeling, where you know you're taking in a lot, but you yourself are paused of articulating how to take it all in. Just looking, gazing, before being pulled back into the reason of why you're here.
Which oh, wait. Nevermind. ]
Last time...-- Chrissie? [ Huh, what. ] That-- [ He can see 'that' from where he was. Was it in this direction, that one--? No, there it is, and he looks between it and Rebbekah in indication. ] That had something to do with Chrissie?
[ He watches his feet for surprise diagrams, but the coast seems to be clear... where he is. ]
no subject
Which makes sense if you think about it! Or well, Lindsy thought about it, but if we had that vision of Areta and if this piece of land really did originate from somewhere in Simpathis's domains and if our crystals are related to Simpathis—!!
[She's speaking a mile a minute, feel free to stop her.]
no subject
[ Speaking about cutting her off, this makes a thought pop up. ]
Do you know if the crystals down there refuse to work for an otherworlder too?
no subject
[She got derailed so hard she has to take a second to figure out what Red is asking.]
The crystals and otherworlders? [...Oh. ...Oh, hmm.] I did look into trying to compare the data I had of the samples from before, but the only real way to know is if an otherworlder actually tried to align with it.
no subject
[ As off the rails it might've sound, it was actually relevant, promise. ]
I wanted to know if the reason we couldn't use the crystals in the mountain had something to do with Simpathis, and how she's been keeping this place safe. [ The fact it might've been such an odd thing to ask though, he pulls a sheepish face. ]
I...had to get a new crystal recently, and I was curious. [ Anyway! ] But this means wherever Empatheias used to be below... it wasn't far from that mine?
no subject
As for where our little floating home is from, it's possible but can't really say for sure. You'd need dirt samples for that, and I'm no geologist.[Only rocks she studies are the crystals, alas.] So we still could be somewhere else, but maybe within the same region.
no subject
I was starting to think those machines we found were imports after all. [ That was a possibility Rebbekah brought up before, wasn't it? ] Thras thinks Shaarnath used to be Simpathis's land in the past too, but when I used dunamis in the mines and outside the city in a test, they reacted pretty different.
Did you see what happens if something grows down there?
no subject
But I did! It was so fascinating—did things turn to crystal for you, too?
no subject
[ And Rebbekah is the crystal person, not the land person. And crystals is what he has, remembering the envelope in his hold and coming closer, pulling out the flap from its tucked place. ]
This doesn't have anything to do with Simpathis, kinda, but I got some crystals for you. We found these near what looked like an old shrine... uhh, where would you like them? They're broken up, so...
[ He's looking for a clear spot, but at the same time, he'd rather wait to pull out the contents for an indication of where she'd prefer them than just dumping them anywhere. ]
no subject
[It's said in good humor as she laughs and notices him searching for a place to put the crystals. Which...is a good question.]
Hmmm, oh, I know! Hold on.
[She'll hurry over to a roll-away cart, clear it off, and then pull it over to him.] Just put them here!
So are these from Shaarnath? Or Theasthai? Or both—sorry I lost track of where you said you went.
no subject
This was outside Theasthai, a few hours away-- on unaligned land! [ He looks away from the crystals at that, since is that cool or what??? ] Daimonia told her rep about it, and we went to check it out. There were camps too, and we even found a map of the area with locations marked out! But here, these-- there were more, but how old do you think these could be? Because the camps we found, they couldn't have been as old as the war!
no subject
Oh gosh hold on, let me see— [She takes a couple of the crystals, gives them a quick once over, and then hurries to one of her many instruments.] This might take a little time, but I should be able to figure out at least a general date first. Getting a specific time will take longer.
no subject
And really, he can barely contain his own excitement, though he does down to making it simply warm around him, as he takes out what else was in that envelope. Rebbekah's moved, but that doesn't mean he can't ready the charcoal images made by Shun for later, sheets of paper with picture-perfect copies of the ruined outdoor shrine (similar to this) by a shore, the set of camps lined. There's a map too, and letters written in a hand close to Thespian... ]
One of the letters talk about a creature that sounds like Daimonia from the description, and they mention the air balloons they used at the mountain. We asked how long they've been running them once we got back, and it's been around fifty years! With that and the notes on the map, it has to mean people have been living out there even without the Arehtei! Just think about what that means!
[ Or don't, since Red even touching on the thought that much makes the trolley before him bucks and nearly sends everything flying, until he slams his hands down onto it with a yelp. It doesn't stop him for longer than a second before he continues on. ]
We have to check it out!
no subject
Rebbekah will listen as she carefully slides in a few crystals into different instruments. Why only do one at a time when you can multi-task?
But oh gosh—oh gosh—]
Oh my gosh, Red if that's all true—!!
[SUDDENLY TAKING HIS HANDS INTO HIS AND JUMPING UP AND DOWN.]
If there are other people that means there must have been ways to survive!! Maybe even places that wasn't as badly affects as initially believed! There could be other cities, hidden away—oh my gosh Red, have you told anyone else yet??
no subject
N-no, you're the first person I came to! You're the most official person I know! [ Sorry, but those lights--they're probably popping now. Rest in pieces because nobody cares right now. ]
Daimonia's people will take us there if we want to go again--and for free! [ Oh- ] Shun's going to talk to Daimonia, I'm sure they'll want to check it out too. But we can work together and investigate!
no subject
Oooooh I wish I could goooo uuuuuuggggggggh! [If she were Peromei she'd probably turn to goop if she could. In the meantime, various items around her are going to turn green in envy as well as a bit murky since she's also a bit in despair.]
If you find anyone you have to tell me! And take pictures and interviews and—just everything!
no subject
But here, Red's going to pause on all this excitement on his end, eyes widening some. ]
Me? But... shouldn't someone else go? What would I say?
[ Isn't this really too important, Rebbekah!? ]
no subject
What? [...Oh. Oh.] Oh, I suppose having some kind of spokesperson would be...logical... But ugh, they're all stuffy, they'd make anyone run away and not have anything to do with us!
No, definitely should be someone more normal&mdahs;someone fun!
[Clearly she thinks Red fits the bill. Somehow.]
But maybe not by yourself...they could be dangerous, too. Oh man, I wonder how people managed to live out there? [Gasp.] What if they're not even human? What if all the negativity actually managed to warp and transform how they look??
[You'd think she'd sound terrified, but no. She sounds excited.]
no subject
[ This is clearly not a normal question to ask, but.
Rebbekah?? ]

I hope this makes it way towards ya. I just want to thank you for talking to Daimonia for me. Without your help I never would have been able to speak to Death, it really means a lot to me.
You're probably really busy, being a rep and all. But if you ever need anything I'm here for ya. It's the least I can do to return the favor.

Dear Emizel,
It was really nothing. Dai likes all of you, and she wants to help as much as she can, I think. I think she would bring down the stars if she thought it might assist all of you in whatever it is you want to do. That might be a bad thing though, so I don't think you should ask for it, even if it would be helpful somehow.
[ There's a black stain a little ways down—someone set their writing implement down in thought and forgot it. Oops.
The neat, small handwriting continues after, though. ]
I have asked the council if I could go up to the island and they said no, and I was going to ask Dai, but I think letting her relax for a little while would be better. She and I both have things to attend to this month and next, so even if I were to visit, it would not be for a while.
But [ and there's another stain here, not quite as large but definitely there ] if I received permission, would you be willing to show me around? I should not need to ask for lodgings from you—I think they might be provided, though I'd have to ask Sophia about that, and we aren't really on speaking terms. Or letter writing terms.
It would be nice to see what you think's important or fun about Verens though.
May Daimonia watch over you,

Representative of Daimonia

Feofan,
I would like that. You should come stay with us anyway for a night. I doubt Shun would mind. Although, maybe your council would. But maybe they would allow it being that it is with other representatives. Maybe that can convince them to let you go too.
But I think you would like Verens, it's different than Theasthai that's for sure. Even if big cities aren't your thing, there's still places like the parks and Lake Niras. Oh, and the Memory Tree. You can probably get to meet Peromei too. That is, if she's up for having visitors. She hasn't been feeling that well again...
[But that is a less positive thing to be talking about. Uh...]
But I would like to spend more time with you, regardless. Let me know when you're thinking about stopping by.
[The poor kid did come off as sort of lonely, having only an Arehtei to really talk to. So some extent Emizel kind of knew what that loneliness feels like, having actually friends now.]

Miss Forsyth,
A couple months back I took a group to further explore Baizho. You may recall the items that I brought to you last time. What we found this time is significantly larger and more difficult to move, though I believe you may find it of interest. It appears to be a component of a generator found in the power plant where the pipes and cores were also recovered, and is in remarkably good and functional condition.
I apologize for not informing you sooner but circumstances prevented it.
The item has been placed in a storage unit which can be found (location given) and the combination to the lock is (combination here). Thankfully it was untouched from the recent thefts.
When you have the time to analyze it I would be very interested in your findings. I look forward to future correspondence.
-Obi-Wan Kenobi
OOC Questions:
The item in question is this from the Baizho excursion summary:
a truck-sized metal box, its outer casing warped and almost melted-looking but otherwise in jarringly clean condition, with great curled turbines and other complicated machinery visible through the distorted holes. Each one of these boxes exudes a sense of calm resignation not unlike the lighthouse near Theasthai, which may overpower the pervasive feeling of outrage if standing in close range.

Oh wow, a generator? And you said Baizho—that's the underwater city, right? Wow, to think they really were able to operate all that technology down there, and now we have a generator to study first hand.
I'll take a look and let you know! Thanks!!
Rebbekah ♥
OOC Notes:
To make things easier, Rebbekah will send Obi-Wan a message about a week or so later informing him how various tests were done on the parts and while it will take a while for the generator itself to be fully restored, she concludes that the generator was likely used to help generate calm throughout the city. But she will be curious why it also seems to feel like a sense of defeat rather than just relaxed or neutral attitude.

Rebbekah,
Your findings are very exciting, and yet concerning at the same time. From what I've gathered, Sosyne's people met ruin by excessive amounts of calm. To think that they were generating this calm artificially, is a bit disturbing if it was directed at the people. Which I strongly suspect it was.
However, do you think it would be possible to adjust this device to generate a more healthy sort of calm? With Sosyne's imbalance toward anger, perhaps we could use this device to help her. Though I ask this conservatively as I would want to make sure it is safe first and foremost, and would not infringe on anyone's will.
I eagerly await your thoughts on this.

It's hard to say what it could have been used for or for how long. There could have been other settings that allowed different emotions, too, but can't really tell as is.
But it should be possible! Honestly, this kind of system isn't too different from what we use, at least in theory and purpose. It's just the tech that's a bit different. I could even rig it up to generate other emotions, too! And safe of course.
Probably would try some small scale first, though.

Greetings Rebbeka,
I just wanted to check in on the progress of the generator. I had a conversation with the other Arehtei representatives and there are some misgivings about its use. Though it was agreed that tests would be good.
Have you had a chance to do any tests with the device as a whole?
Also, I am making plans to go back to Baizho and excavate more of these generators. I believe there may have been at least two of them. If these machines turn out to be beneficial, I believe we will need them. Can you be prepared to receive them?
